About the Project
What is the SATISFY Project?
SATISFY, the School Age Transition and Inclusion Support for Families and Youth Project is an initiative of the Department of Developmental Services (DDS).
Project Goals
The goal is to expand California families’ knowledge of transitions for regional center-eligible children ages 3 to 11. DDS has engaged WestEd to assist with this initiative to:
- Increase the knowledge of youth and families on school-age transitions and inclusion.
- Ensure that families are equipped with resources to advocate for successful futures for their children.
Project Phases
The SATISFY Project has three broad phases:
- January – February 2025: Collect input from families and youth to explore their daily-life experiences related to transitions and inclusion across all aspects of a child’s life.
- February – April 2025: Develop “roadmaps” of the landscape of experiences and options for regional center-eligible children and youth who require the most support with transitions and inclusion. The roadmaps will serve as informative and person-centered graphic resources for both families and service-system professionals.
- April – September 2025: Produce videos communicating the stories of regional center-eligible children and youth and their families to both inspire and inform families and service-system professionals.
